Central Hairstation Antwerp— More Than Just a Salon

What started in 2016 as a simple, heartfelt gesture — a pair of scissors, a warm smile, and a lot of compassion — has grown into a yearly tradition that touches lives in the most human way.

Central Hairstation Antwerp isn’t just about hair. It’s about people.

Each year, our team gathers at Antwerp Central Station to offer something many of us take for granted: dignity, warmth, and connection. Through haircuts, warm meals, clothing, and genuine conversation, we remind people who are struggling — the homeless, the forgotten, the unseen — that they matter.

It started with one person and one haircut…

A few years ago, our founder Peter Vanhamel walked into the Central Station with nothing more than a pair of scissors and a deep wish to make a difference.
What happened that day was the beginning of something beautiful.

Since then, each edition has grown — powered by the generosity of friends, colleagues, strangers, and clients. We’ve welcomed some of Antwerp’s finest hairdressers, gathered bags full of clothing, served warm soup, handed out self-care kits, shared hugs, and raised funds from all over the world.

Because kindness is contagious.
And compassion? That’s what truly transforms lives.

Get Involved – Autumn 2025 Edition

Starting this September, we’ll once again begin collecting:

  • Warm clothing (clean, gently used jackets, scarves, socks, etc.)

  • Donations to help us offer meals, hygiene kits, and supplies

  • Time & skills — volunteers are always welcome!

Would you like to be part of it?
Whether you have clothes to donate, want to volunteer, or simply wish to know more — come visit us at the salon and let’s talk. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps us create a moment of light in someone’s day.

We’re already looking forward to the next edition on sunday December 21st, 2025.
And we’d love to welcome you into our circle of kindness.

"I can’t express my love and gratitude for all the warm-hearted friends that make our days at Antwerp Central Station... Something I started with a single haircut became a movement carried by love."
